Scott Merz, PhD

Dr. Scott Merz, Ph.D. co-founded MC3 Inc. in 1991 and serves as its Chief Executive Officer and President. He has extensive experience in all aspects of the medtech industry over the 25 years including technology startup, research and development, regulatory, fundraising and partnering. He has negotiated several licensing and other strategic partnerships in the cardiovascular space for MC3 Inc. He is a serial entrepreneur and has taken multiple medical devices the whole nine yards-from academia, through the FDA, to the marketplace. Dr. Merz serves as a Director at Vasoptic Medical Inc. He has been a Director of MC3 Inc. He holds 10+ patents and has led numerous licensing deals enabling the launch of several spinout device companies. He is a charter member of the Extracorporeal Life Support Organization (ELSO) and long-standing leader of the cardiopulmonary community. Dr. Merz earned his Bachelors Degree in Electrical/Biomedical Engineering from Duke University and his Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Michigan.
